Meadows & Ohly Celebrates Groundbreaking of Atrium Health Carolinas Medical Center Bed Tower

Atlanta, GA, July 13, 2023 – Meadows & Ohly, LLC, a comprehensive healthcare real estate services firm, attended the groundbreaking for the new, state-of-the-art bed tower on Atrium Health’s flagship Carolinas Medical Center campus. In partnership with Storey Program Management, Meadows & Ohly takes great pride in its role as the program manager of this remarkable facility, which will contribute significantly to the advancement of the region's healthcare infrastructure.

Located near uptown Charlotte on Blythe Road, the expansive 12-story, 1.1 million square foot facility will address diverse healthcare needs and is scheduled to open its doors in 2027. The new bed tower will seamlessly connect with the existing Dickson Tower and the David L. Conlan Center at Atrium Health Carolinas Rehabilitation.

At full occupancy, the new facility is expected to offer:

  • 448 patient rooms, which will include the built-in capability to adapt to future technology

  • 38 operating rooms

  • 16 procedure rooms

  • A pod-style emergency department with 62 exam rooms

  • A new helipad

  • An open core model for the nursing units on inpatient floors, designed to facilitate collaboration between teammates and maximize visibility and access into patient rooms

  • Dedicated space on each floor for teammate health and well-being
