Spotlight on Piedmont Ellijay
Piedmont Ellijay recognized the need to replace an aging, third-party-owned freestanding emergency department (FSED) in Ellijay that no longer supported modern care delivery. Leadership saw an opportunity to create a contemporary, patient-focused facility while gaining the benefits of building ownership for greater operational control. At the same time, consolidating multiple physician clinics into a single location would improve efficiency and better serve the community.
Meadows & Ohly was engaged to lead the development and program management with a focus on strategic execution and long-term impact. The result was a two-story medical office building and freestanding emergency department featuring 53 exam rooms, 24/7 emergency services, a helipad, and a wide range of outpatient specialties, including cardiology, rheumatology, OB/GYN, and primary care.
Serving as developer, program manager, and property manager, Meadows & Ohly ensured continuous emergency care for the community while reusing a significant portion of equipment, resulting in substantial cost savings and a seamless transfer of patients between facilities. Today, the facility expands Piedmont’s presence in North Georgia and serves as a long-term asset built for care continuity and community health.
