Advancing Emergency Care and Outpatient Access for North Georgia
Meadows & Ohly provided end-to-end development and program management leadership, guiding site selection and facility planning to ensure strong community visibility and alignment with Piedmont Ellijay’s vision for modern care. We assembled the right design and construction partners early and delivered the new facility ahead of the existing lease expiration, minimizing disruption and enabling a seamless transition.
The new two-story medical office building and freestanding emergency department (FSED) features 53 exam rooms, 24/7 emergency services, a helipad, and a wide range of outpatient specialties including cardiology, rheumatology, OB/GYN, and primary care. Consolidating multiple physician clinics into a single location enabled shared services and future flexibility, while the FSED-focused design streamlined patient care and created redundancy to support continuity if equipment issues arose. Serving as developer, program manager, and property manager, Meadows & Ohly ensured continuous emergency care for the community while reusing a large portion of equipment, resulting in meaningful cost savings and a smooth transfer of patients between facilities. Today, the facility expands Piedmont’s presence in North Georgia and serves as a long-term asset built for care continuity and community health.
