Delivering Strategic Infrastructure to Support Long-Term Community Health
To improve access to high-quality oncology services in a region marked by health disparities, the University of Tennessee Medical Center (UTMC) prioritized expanding care locally through a new outpatient facility in Blount County. The project needed to relocate existing oncology services quickly while also creating a flexible foundation for future expansion. It was equally important that the solution support UTMC’s long-term goals, including advancing health equity and delivering sustainable value to a growing and diverse community. Meadows & Ohly was engaged to lead the development with a focus on strategic execution and long-term impact.
Driving Execution, Managing Complexity, and Delivering Value
Meadows & Ohly provided end-to-end development leadership, managing the project from strategic planning through activation. We guided site strategy and facility planning to support both immediate needs and long-term flexibility. Despite significant post-COVID challenges, including elevated costs and extended lead times, we delivered the facility on time and under budget by carefully sequencing procurement and managing resources throughout construction. Our Property Management team was engaged early to support a smooth transition. They developed building systems and operational plans well before the first patient arrived. The result is a high-performing, adaptable medical office building that meets current community needs while supporting UTMC’s future growth. Today, the facility strengthens UTMC’s presence in East Tennessee and serves as a long-term asset built for care continuity and operational resilience.
